Monks with their dog walking for peace. "When monks leave their monasteries to walk for peace, it's not symbolic, it's a warning. They don't seek attention. They don't ask for power. They walk only when the world is out of balance.”*
Could this be an omen for a positive shift in the collective consciousness? I like to think so.
Already 2026 is showing signs of a shift in my small patch of the world. My work has been accepted to two exhibitions, and a nice acknowledgment from the Surface Design Association’s Textiles for the End of the World - Selections Fall 2025.
If you find yourself in Santa Fe, do stop by Strata Gallery for the Small Works exhibition, January 9-23.
My work is also shown at Fusion Gallery in Albuquerque for the Threads Through Time exhibition, through February 1.
Later this month I’ll travel to Aya Fiber Studio for my first workshop and visit to Florida. This workshop, “Visual Haiku” is a creative response to writing haiku for years as a meditation about beauty and sense of place. I discovered that using fiber paper with inclusions could result in a narrative about nature which always soothes my soul. I’m delighted to offer this workshop at a time when we can all use a fresh perspective on life and the beauty around us.
Workshops at Paper Rain Studio will continue online through spring, and as soon as the weather warms up here in the high desert mountains I’ll open the studio to in-person papermaking workshops with kozo and abaca fibers.
In June I’ll be in California for a workshop at the Mendocino Art Center and in Port Orchard, WA. View details at the On The Road Workshops page.
