In this process oriented workshop, participants will learn methods for constructing armatures with rigid and flexible materials like rattan, wire and danish cord. Techniques will include lashing with waxed linen thread and weaving flexible fiber.
Explore the magic of transforming flax fiber into textured paper that will be applied over, in and through your constructions adding dimensionality to the form. Use surface embellishment techniques such as mark-making and stitching to build up layers adding color and texture to your fiber sculptures.
Nearby attractions include Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs, Taos Plaza with shops, galleries and restaurants, Museums (Harwood, Millicent Rogers, Fechin House, Couse-Sharp Historic Site) and an abundance of big sky views. John Dunn Bridge and the Gorge are also nearby.
