Symbolic Death, as in a Chrysalis... to then emerge as a butterfly...Descents into the underworld take a person into the realm of death, transformation, and rebirth. When in a descent, something that has been buried in the psyche may be unearthed, re-membered, and brought to life. There is a possibility of a spiritual or psychological resurrection.

Unearth your creative-self in the expansive landscape and big skies of northern New Mexico. Bring your muse to a four-day RENEWAL RETREAT at Paper Rain Studio in Arroyo Hondo, NM. Revive your sense of resilience through the art of papermaking; forage along the Rio for inclusions and plant materials for ink making; listen to your inner-voice in quiet forest surroundings.
Fees:
Four-day retreat inclusive of studio materials, process demonstrations, hands-on instruction, field trips and snacks: $795.
Space is limited to 4 participants.
Retreat/Workshop meets daily, 10am - 4pm
Retreat/Workshop Details:
Day 1- Introduction to papermaking with abaca (Manila hemp), discussion and demonstrations
Day 2- Foraging, process plant fiber for inclusions, papermaking and sheet formation
Day 3- Create sculpture with natural materials (chrysalis, nest, habitat theme)
Day 4– Make ink for mark-making with plant fiber (bark, leaves, wild fruit). Finish projects.
* At the end of the retreat you will have finished creations to take home. Please make arrangements for shipping and transport (ie: packaging materials, boxes).

What to bring:
Bag lunch
Water canteen (it’s important to stay hydrated in the high desert)
Sunscreen
Hat
Garden gloves
Hand clippers
Sturdy shoes
